Given the growing tendency of consumers to choose products with natural ingredients, food industries have directed scientific research in this direction. In regard, algae are an attractive option for research, since they can synthesize a group secondary metabolites, called phenolic compounds, associated really promising properties and bioactivities. The objective work was classify major compare effectiveness different extractive techniques used their extraction, from traditional systems (like heat assisted extraction) most advance ones (such as ultrasound, microwave or supercritical fluid extraction); available methods identification quantification; stability enriched extract compounds main bioactivities described these offer overview situation consider if it is possible and/or convenient orientation towards industrial application.
